Yes, You Are Holy!
Do you know that you are righteous? I know many have told you about the famous verse of ‘No one is righteous, no not one’ or maybe religion has taught you that you are not worthy. I am here to tell you that that is a lie. You are an overcomer, period!
You probably look down upon yourself and maybe think you are not perfect and are defined by other people’s thoughts and description of you. Can religion define how God used a ‘pathetic’ and ‘brutal’ murderer like Saul (Paul)? Can it define how He used another murderer like Moses or another murderer like David?
I guess not.
I am here to affirm to you that someone, someone way above human comprehension doesn’t see what humans see in you. Your father sees you as Holy. It is your duty to believe and take action on that. That you are Holy.
Do you know why you are an overcomer? It is because you are reading this post. There are so many who cannot read it. Not because they do not want to but because circumstances cannot let them.
You are also an overcomer because of what the Spirit of God will reveal to you to in this post.
Who is An Overcomer?
Jesus said in John 16:33
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
What is tribulation? Well, to many who live in the consciousness of it, a pandemic like COVID-19 is a great tribulation. I speak in great affirmation that there are people in this world who know of no tribulation, no pain, no anguish nor sorrow because they are overcomers. Jesus overcame all that for them. This article is meant to bring you to that realm.
Let’s talk about the prodigal son. Let’s look at the life of the elder son who said ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’
When you pray what do you usually talk to God about? Do you ask for food for today? Preservation? Protection from the devil? The elder son never knew what he had. He was just keen on obeying his father and working to please him. He was under the law of his father and he felt like a slave.
But his father told him, ‘My son, you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’
The elder son was living like a slave not knowing he was an overcomer. He didn’t know that he overcame debauchery like his brother and feeding with the pigs. He lived, and regarded himself as one of his father’s servants and was totally oblivious that he was also a master in his father’s empire.
His vision was so narrow that he blamed his father for not giving him a young goat to celebrate with his friends. He felt that all this while as he was slaving for his father, he was not even worthy of a young goat.
This same story is replicated to we, children of God, and our father in Heaven. We try so hard to please God in our own flesh and we slave for Him to gain favours forgetting whatever he owns is also ours.
Jesus told His disciples in John 16:33 that:
‘When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.‘
Are You Like Martha?
In Luke 10, Jesus and His disciples visit Martha in her home and we are told that Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She was cooking, and probably making tea for the Holy people of God because she wanted to please them with the sweetest food.
Mary, her sister, sat at the feet of Jesus listening to Him. Most probably Martha was thinking, ‘What kind of a lousy sister is this?’ and that’s why she came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
In a swift turn of events, Jesus said to her:
“Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed – or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Maybe someone has narrated to you or have read and re-read the stories of the prodigal son and that of Mary and Martha and have never grasped these deeper revelations.
Are you worried about COVID-19? About how you will pay your fees? About the crashing economy, about your lost job? About the worldly boring saying of #NewNormal?
Are you busy trying to please Jesus like Martha by doing your best to avoid sin and be holy? Are you still wailing at the cross while remnants are celebrating the resurrection power?
Only few things are needed – or indeed only one. Without it you will still be narrating, ‘Cast your burdens unto Jesus for He cares for you’ and you will see no fruit.
One With The Father
God asked Adam, ‘Where are You?’ It is the first time God asked Adam where he was. Why? He had eaten from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. He was no longer one with God.
Many know the prodigal son’s story of repentance and love but very few get the revelation of the elder son. After the prodigal son (you) was back, the question remains did he come to the realization that he was now the owner of that wealth too? Or did he regard himself as one of his father’s servants?
If we overcame with Christ, it simply means that we are healed of all infirmities, we are healed of all sorrow, pain and anguish and we are set free from all burdens that succumb us and most of all, we a co-heirs with Christ because he says that all the father has is ours.
If our father owns all the world. If our father owns cattle on a thousand hills. If our father owns Bentleys and Porsches, then all of that is ours. If our father owns all the money, mansions and choppers, why are we still slaving? Why are we servants when all that He owns is ours?
1 John 5:1-5
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
To be an overcomer, only few things are needed – or indeed only one and it is clearly stated in 1 John 5 – being born of God. And how are we born of God? By simply believing that Jesus Christ is born of God. The Bible clearly states that everyone, not someone, not selected few but EVERYONE born of God is an overcomer.
Do you believe that Jesus is the son of God? Then you are an overcomer! And by believing in Him we keep his commands which are not burdensome. We will not be covered in soot like Martha nor slave like the older son. We will be free. This is why Jesus says that:
I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. – John 15:15
Now, like Mary who sat at Jesus feet, we know our master’s business. Servant’s like the older son do not know their master’s business and that’s why he couldn’t even slaughter a young goat because he never knew it was his.
The world will make you listen to it. The media will preach to you about harsh times, Scientists will tell you about the impossibilities of what is clearly stated to you at the truth and religion will put in you fear that will make you live as a slave.
Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free!
Conclusion
Is there a better way to conclude this than saying, ‘When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”
Or
But God has revealed it to us by the Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of man except his own spirit within him? So too, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God
The truth is found in the Spirit of God which lives in you who believe that Christ Jesus is the son of God. The Scripture says that the world doesn’t know Him but you do. This is why the world has its own ‘truth’ which is just a bunch of lies.
The Spirit will reveal to you who you are in the Kingdom of God and in this new realm where impossibility is a myth and where prosperity is given not earned.
Revelation 2:7
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God.’
